What age does my dog need to be to enroll in your program? My Board and Train program is designed for dogs 6 months or older. Dog's entering my program must be dog neutral (tolerate other dogs, this program is not designed for dogs with a history of human or dog aggression.) This is a great program to address basic obedience, leash pulling, jumping, unwanted puppy behavior etc.
-
How do I enroll my dog in your program?Contact me for a free phone consult. If approved I'll email you a training contract, health and intake forms. After I receive your completed training forms we'll schedule an intake date to start your dog's training.
-
What health requirements does my dog need to enroll? All dog's entering my Board and Train program are required to be current on DHLPP, Bordetella, CIV and Rabies vaccines. Dogs must be current on a prescription flea and tick prevention for at least 3 consecutive months prior to intake and have a negative fecal test for all intestinal parasites within 5 days prior to the training intake date. One of my top priorities is to keep your dog and my personal dogs happy and healthy!
-
What will my dog learn?Using a balanced training approach your dog will learn basic obedience and positive behaviors using play, praise and treats. Once your dog understands and is fluent in the desired behaviors, a low e-collar simulation is introduced to reinforce and condition the desired behaviors while continuing to use positive reinforcement. After completing the board and train program your dog will understand sit, stay, down, down on recall, come (on/off leash) heel (on/off leash) place, crate, meal manners, greeting manners, threshold manners and e-collar conditioned so your dog can safely and confidently enjoy off leash freedom! At pickup, you'll learn the fundamentals to maintain your dog's training, along with a complimentary in-person 1-hour follow-up session and unlimited access to virtual follow-up sessions. Your dog will be able to focus on learning in a safe and structured environment with a minimum of 6 daily training sessions, daily pack walks and structured playtimes. You'll receive daily picture and text updates on your dog's progress.
-
What will a typical day look like for my dog while in your Board and Train program?Your dog will live in my home in a safe, clean and structured learning environment. I only accept 1 board and train student/client at a time to guarantee plenty of individual training time and daily enrichment. Your dog will enjoy daily pack walks with my personal dogs, structured playtimes, multiple outdoor pee/poop breaks, a minimum of 6 daily training sessions, field trips into town to practice generalization and neutrality. When traveling your dog will always be transported in a crate for safety purposes. At night your dog will sleep in a crate in my bedroom. You'll receive daily text and picture/video updates on your dog's training progress.
-
What can I expect after my dog's Board and Train is complete? Before you take your dog home you'll receive a 1-2 hour training session with your dog so you can learn how to clearly communicate with your dog and maintain your dog's new skills. You'll be required to purchase and bring a quality e-collar (Dogtra or Mini educator) to the pickup training session. Included in my Board & Train program I offer a complimentary 1 hour in person follow-up session at anytime during your dog's lifetime, access to unlimited virtual support and access to my Board and Stay Refresher Course.
-
How long is the program and what does it cost?On average 3 weeks. Just like people, dog's have different learning styles and learn at different speeds. If your dog's training isn't complete after 3 weeks the remaining time is complementary until your dog is confident in their new skills! Cost for the Board and Train program is $3,000. A deposit for half the cost of training (cash or check) will be required at intake and the remaining balance is due at pickup.
-
What do I need to bring for my dog's Board and Train? Please bring a fresh bag of dog food (or a 4 week supply of their food) and any medications/supplements your dog is on. I'll provide clean dishes, toys, beds, blankets, a crate and lots of treats for your dog. You are encouraged to bring anything else that you feel will help your dog's stay be more comfortable. If your dog is on a prescription diet and has dietary restrictions for treats you'll need to provide the appropriate treats for your pup.
-
Do you offer a payment plan?At this time, I do not offer payment plans for my services. I understand that investing in your dog's training can be a significant expense, which is why I strive to keep my prices competitive. I'm dedicated to providing you with the best training experience possible and firmly believe that investing in your dog's training is an investment in your dog's future and well-being.
